For what seemed like moments ago, Static watched as his mother vanished into darkness. A barrier constructed of space of time kept him from reaching her. And there'd been nothing he could do. Everything went dark and then there was nothing.

Until now. There was grass, the sounds of chirping birds and the sun getting in his eyes. Immediately Virgil sat up in a panic and looked around frantically.

"Mom!?"

But as far as he could tell, there was nothing. Worse than that, he realized he was in nothing but a pair of white pants that he had way more sense than to ever pick up for himself. And he was in a forest, which didn't bode well. Okay, so you're Virgil right now. In the middle of nowhere. Possibly in Medieval times if Timezone messed things up.

"Oh man. Not good."

Warily, he began to explore.

[Action - Afternoon]

So he was stuck in a place called Luceti. The first thing he did, once he got a chance to be by himself, was circle back to the clothing store and assemble his Static outfit. He found his metal disc at the item shop not long after. So once he felt confident with his much weaker powers, he took off towards the barrier. After about fifteen minutes of pumping it with electricity and getting nowhere, he decided it would be a bad idea to drain himself completely and be forced to walk all the way back to the town. So he returned to town, found a convenient power outlet to draw power from at the Tea Shop, and finally decided to do something about the journal. The question was... introduce himself as Static or as Virgil Hawkins?

Well, the answer was obvious.

[Voice]

So hey, Static here. If you haven’t heard of me, I’m a superhero from Dakota City. But really, has anyone heard of me? No, it’s not in North or South Dakota. I get that a lot. So I guess you could kinda say I’m new here. But I was kind of wondering about how to deal with the superhero thing. There's others here, right? The secret identity thing is pretty important, after all. But it's probably gonna be hard keeping it secret in a small town like this. Unless I just wear the mask all the time. I could probably do that if I have to.

Man, I just wish the Justice League was here. Batman would have already found a way out of this place by now.

[Static opens his mouth to answer, then closes it when he has no clue.]

Uh. [...] Watch this. [He points at a nearby park bench and from his hand sends out a blast of electricity and uses it to lift the bench in the air.]

action;

[precipitous]

[ Yeah that's some explanation. ]

That's electro-whatever? [ Huh. ] Not bad, I guess.

action;

[systemshock]

Hey, I haven't even got started.

[He lowers the bench again.]

I'm just trying to avoid property damage.

action;

[precipitous]

Oh, yeah? Well, let's see what you can do, then.

action;

[systemshock]

Alright. You asked for it.

[He stretches out his arms to pop his fingers, then he begins to focus. He focuses a field of electricity around him and with it, he begins to target anything that he can. Benches, lamp posts, stones, and so on. Before long, he's got all of them floating in the air around him in what makes for one hell of a flashy show.

Aaaaand this is way more tiring than he remembered.]

[precipitous]

[ It's quite the light show. Korra whistles. ]

Sheesh, you really know how to show off for a girl, don't you?

action;

[systemshock]

[He brings them all to the ground again, though they land with a thud, followed by a sigh of relief. Between the exertion and her comment, he ends up blushing.]

Well, usually I save the light show for the local bad guys...

action;

[precipitous]

So that's what you do with your power back home? Toss around bad guys? [ Hey, she sort of does that, too! ]

action;

[systemshock]

Everyone needs a hobby.

action;

[precipitous]

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there aren't too many bad guys to toss around in this village.

action;

[systemshock]

"I kinda figured. Not even Mayberry is this dinky."

action;

[precipitous]

It's dinky, alright. But...you've heard about the drafts and experiments?

action;

[systemshock]

[Static slumps a little.]

Yeah. It's kinda hard to believe.

action;

[precipitous]

...Yeah. Most of the time, it's not too bad, though. Boring, sure, but it's safe...enough.

action;

[systemshock]

What are they like?

action;

[precipitous]

Which do you wanna hear about first? Drafts of experiments?

action;

[systemshock]

Uh. Which one is worse?

action;

[precipitous]

Drafts, definitely. Experiments are kind of dumb, but you're still yourself by the end of them. Drafts are...[ Her shoulders sag. ] I mean, they make us fight for them in their war. What would you expect from something like that?

action;

[systemshock]

[His head droops a little.]

Yeah. Stupid question. War is... [Well. War.] What about the experiments? Are we talking Island of Dr. Moreau or more like Weird Science?

action;

[precipitous]

[ She has no idea what either of those are, but she can roll with it. ]

I think they can be sort of...anything. I've only been through one, and for that I thought I was a movie star. Other people thought they were pregnant. I got off lucky, but it still sucked.

action;

[systemshock]

... movie star, huh? I could see that. With the right clothes, you could pull it off.

action;

[precipitous]

Uh...thanks. I guess. Anyway, sometimes it's lame stuff like that, but I've heard of worse things happening, too.

action;

[systemshock]

... like the virus? [He read the guide. That was just freaky.]

action;

[precipitous]

[ She had only heard a little bit about that herself. ] That was before I got here. But...yeah, stuff like that.
