For what seemed like moments ago, Static watched as his mother vanished into darkness. A barrier constructed of space of time kept him from reaching her. And there'd been nothing he could do. Everything went dark and then there was nothing.

Until now. There was grass, the sounds of chirping birds and the sun getting in his eyes. Immediately Virgil sat up in a panic and looked around frantically.

"Mom!?"

But as far as he could tell, there was nothing. Worse than that, he realized he was in nothing but a pair of white pants that he had way more sense than to ever pick up for himself. And he was in a forest, which didn't bode well. Okay, so you're Virgil right now. In the middle of nowhere. Possibly in Medieval times if Timezone messed things up.

"Oh man. Not good."

Warily, he began to explore.

[Action - Afternoon]

So he was stuck in a place called Luceti. The first thing he did, once he got a chance to be by himself, was circle back to the clothing store and assemble his Static outfit. He found his metal disc at the item shop not long after. So once he felt confident with his much weaker powers, he took off towards the barrier. After about fifteen minutes of pumping it with electricity and getting nowhere, he decided it would be a bad idea to drain himself completely and be forced to walk all the way back to the town. So he returned to town, found a convenient power outlet to draw power from at the Tea Shop, and finally decided to do something about the journal. The question was... introduce himself as Static or as Virgil Hawkins?

Well, the answer was obvious.

[Voice]

So hey, Static here. If you haven’t heard of me, I’m a superhero from Dakota City. But really, has anyone heard of me? No, it’s not in North or South Dakota. I get that a lot. So I guess you could kinda say I’m new here. But I was kind of wondering about how to deal with the superhero thing. There's others here, right? The secret identity thing is pretty important, after all. But it's probably gonna be hard keeping it secret in a small town like this. Unless I just wear the mask all the time. I could probably do that if I have to.

Man, I just wish the Justice League was here. Batman would have already found a way out of this place by now.

... I didn't think this would happen. I just wanted to go back and fix something. But then I ended up here. I mean, I know that in the movies you're not supposed to mess with your own time stream...

[He'll be there in five, but the extra five minutes are necessary to check out the situation before committing to being seen.]

[He'll find Static by the wall, not so subtly draining electricity from the socket.

Guess what his power is.]

He'll be settled beside Virgil next time he turns around to notice. It might be moot to note it, but he's very much not the Robin who would've hung out with Virgil in the past.]

Continue where you left off. what did you do?

[systemshock]

[Static nearly jumped in surprise. He never could get used to that. He shook his head before relaxing, breathing, and continuing on.]

R-right. Well. Me and Gear- he's my partner, we met a new Bang Baby. She called herself Timezone. She had the power to move through time. So I convinced her to take me back to the past so... [I could save my mom.]

We needed to fix something that went wrong.

And you think she dropped you off in a prison dimension instead?

[action]

[systemshock]

Not intentionally. Gear made a device to help her control her powers. But I zapped it and messed it up, trying to get it back from this guy called Ebon.

Sounds like an accident. Those happen. Don't beat yourself up about it.

Accident or not, I still ended up here.

[And he failed. He didn't save his mother.]

I dunno, I already threw everything I had at the barrier.

My next plan was "Hope Batman fixes everything." But apparently he's not here. So what have you got?

First off, it's a terrible idea to rely on Batman. You'll only be disappointed.

Really? Because... I mean, it's Batman. [A pause.] Don't you guys usually get along, though? I mean, you are the dynamic duo.

Really?> [A beat.] Hey, which Robin are you, anyway? I know there's two of them and there's the whole weird time thing going on here.

[His guess? This is a pre-Nightwing Robin. It would explain all the anger.]

I just wanted to know if you were the first one or not. I only met the second one. I mean, I know Batman's secret identity and I even know Alfred. But I never found out about you two.

[And he's not asking for a revelation, either. Just whether he's talking to the Robin he knows already.]

[His shoulders tense as Static talks about them as interchangeable parts. It's a little like the kind of stats that fanboys rattle off. "Which one do you think lives downstairs" was a conversation that came out of the Young Avengers' apartment early into their stay.

It's only when Alfred is invoked that he softens at all. Alfred is the universal peace flag as far as he's concerned. It would be insulting to him if Robin kept his guard up after that.]
